Midnight Madness Alumni Band

Update 10/14: The arrival time has changed to 7:30. A few other details have changed as well (such as the free shirts will only come in large), so please read the revised notes below carefully.

Athletics has asked if the Alumni Band would play for Midnight Madness on Friday, October 16th. All band alumni are invited to play and watch the start of this basketball season!

Start time is be 7:30 pm in the Comcast Center. We will play until the marching band comes in at 9:15, then the team and Gary will be introduced right after that for a scrimmage and we will all play together! Free Midnight Madness T-Shirts for everyone attending!!!

Some Additional Details

  • Show up by 7:30 pm at the Comcast Center loading dock entrance.
  • Sign-up deadline is Thursday, 10/15 so we get your names on the list.
  • Friends and family can come in through the front door and watch the show, but they cannot enter through the tunnel or sit with the band.
  • Parking is open anywhere around Comcast Center after 4:00.
  • Wear blue jeans and a red shirt. The free give-away t-shirts only come in Large, so it may not fit everyone.
  • Standard pep band stands and music will be there to use.
  • Only drums and sousaphones will be provided by the band office — others must bring your own instruments.

There's no option to borrow mellophones? Just percussion and sousaphones? I don't have access to a mellophone, but I'd love to come help out with Midnight Madness.

Ashleah - I'll double-check for you, but it may not hurt to contact the band office as a back-up. Know any band teachers that could lend you one?

I played cymbals and bass drum in the band.
will either be available, along with the drumset?

I don't believe there will be other percussion instruments, but you can always contact the band office to double-check. I'll also shoot them a note.

I played snare in the band. I can play a set, but I don't know the song arrangements for the drumset.

I'm hoping to get there by 7:30, but I'll be at a conference during the day and I'll need to rely on Metro.
