Community Band Concert April 4 at CSPAC - All Welcome

On Wednesday evening, April 4 at 8:00 PM, the MARYLAND COMMUNITY BAND will present a concert with the U of MD University Band in the Dekelboum Concert Hall of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on campus in College Park.  Each group will present about 35 minutes of music on this annual free and open to the public concert.  I am extremely proud of the 75-member MCB for their hard work and amazing progress over the years.  Being able to present a program with this level of difficulty is proof of their dedication and love for performing great music.  Last year many of you were able to attend when we presented Emerson Head and the trumpet trio and I hope you can be with us again this year. Our soloist is one of the group’s own, Andrea Schewe, who joined us eight years ago when her son was a music major and fine trumpet player in my Symphonic Wind Ensemble.  What an unusual pleasure for me to have mother and son in two ensembles under my baton.  She is a very fine piccolo player and I know you will enjoy her solo performance.  I hope your schedule will allow you to join us on April 4 for this program that I know you will enjoy.

Best wishes,

John E. Wakefield

Director of Bands Emeritus
