Lyrics

Maryland, we're all behind you,
Raise high the Black and Gold.
For there is nothing half so glorious
As to see our team victorious.

We've got the team, boys,
We've got the steam, boys,
So keep on fighting, don't give in;
M-A-R-Y-L-A-N-D
Maryland will win!

Fight, fight, fight for Maryland!
Honor now her name again,
Push up the score, keep on fighting for more,
For Maryland. GO TERPS!

Go on and fight, fight, fight for Terrapin,
Keep on fighting 'til we win,
So sing out our song as we go marching along
To Victory!

Hail to thee, Maryland!

Lyrics

Cheer three times, Cheer, And one cheer more,
Maryland, My Maryland.
Send forth that cry from hill to shore,
Maryland, My Maryland!

Fair mother of our brightest dreams,
Blest giver of life's precious things,
To thee each heart its service brings,
Maryland, My Maryland!

School Song History

These are the four modern-day school songs of the University of Maryland. The school songs have changed many times over the years by the band program, university officials and the student body to reflect changes in attitude and spirit on campus.

The school's Memorial Chapel has been playing the tune to "Maryland, My Maryland" every hour since it was built in 1952. On Wednesday, April, 21, 1999, that tune was replaced with the school's Alma Mater.

It should be noted that the words listed here to "Maryland, My Maryland" are actually the lyrics to the former "University of Maryland Alma Mater" composed in 1921. The current Alma Mater of the school was composed in 1941 by Robert Kenny — a member of the University Chorus.
